Donations were received in anticipation of the court case of six local women who were charged with refusing to leave the land during a demonstration against the burial site on 12 May 2001. It was widely believed that the women would be prosecuted and fined because of their protest, but that the community ought to pay any fine as the women were protesting for the rights of all local people.
