By: lynn dodds - 23rd March 2010 (at 11:38AM)i remember these days so well i was 13 yrs old going down the beach mith me dad to get coal on the back of my brothers Bmx bike what fun we had.!!, it was a tough time for the whole community. we were some of the lucky one's really as my mam worked full time and did antyovertime she could to keep our heads above water as they say easington was an extremely close community and we all stood together and unlike now...easington is a whole different place and its sad to see it fall into disrepair....its so sad as i have some of the happiest memories from my child hood asking the pit men for chalk as they made there way to the pit baths...sitting on the medical centre drain to keep warm in the winter with all my friends..who sadly some are not with us now very happy days......xx
