Sorting out the catch on deck, 1980
The fish seen in this picture are manly codling and whiting. The catch is sorted into its various grades with any fish below the legally allowed minimum size being thrown back into the sea. Here the "Condowan" is being followed by scavenging seagulls, quick to take advantage of any discarded fish.

I saw a copy of it in a fish and chip shop in Squamish, British Columbia (I was on holiday there) which prompted me to look up the photographer. It took me right back to my 1970's teenage years in Yorkshire and the cod wars. So here I am.
