Horden Victory Club
A workingmen’s club in Horden, County Durham, and its annual Leek Show documented in 2000 as part of Side Gallery’s Coalfield Stories programme of production.
The club was used as a location in the making of Like Father. The Amber filmmakers were interested in the way it thrived in the heart of an economically-depressed ex-colliery town. Side Gallery approached Figura to explore this further. The commission was supported through a Year of the Artist residency and the photographs were first shown at the club in 2001.
