Jimmy Forsyth Dies
14th July 2009 By: Graeme RigbyJimmy Forsyth, who documented Scotswood Road in the 1950s and 1960s, died on Saturday 11th July 2009. His work stands as one of the great records of its kind - a portrait of a working class community from within. A couple of us from Amber went to his 95th birthday last November and communication was getting a bit difficult - but it wasn't long ago you'd still come across him in the streets with his camera (failing eyesight in his one good eye and wheelchair notwithstanding) and he was still a welcome surprise visitor at the gallery until a couple of years ago. Apparently his final illness only lasted a week and he died peacefully. We will all miss him at Amber.

Jimmy Forsyth Dies
By: Gerald (Gerry) Hope - 16th July 2009 (at 3:45PM)After reviewing Jimmy Forsyth's work, my son came across an incredible coincidence, the photograph depicting the Cruse family shows his his mother and all but one of her sibling. To the left is Terrance (Terry) Cruse; in front of him is Elizabeth, who now lives in North Kenton, to the left of Terry is Lilian Jean, who now resides just north of Newmarket, in Canada, with her Husband Gerald (Gerry) Hope, her two children Rodney and Michelle and her two grandsons, Nathan and Kai Errett. To the Left of Jean, which she prefers to go by, is Pauline, who unfortunately died of Cancer C. 1979, next to her is Anne, who now lives in Gosforth with her husband Robbie and her children. Bring up the rear is Brian, the eldest of the brood who now resides in Gateshead With his wife Margret and their two sons. The missing sibling, who at that time would have only been a toddler, is Ailsa who lives in North Kenton with her husband Norman who hav a son and daughter.
