From the Castle

Take either Dog Leap Stairs or the cobbled street called Side, both of which run down from the castle. Continue down towards the Quayside on the new pedestrianised section of Side. Side Café is towards the bottom opposite a pub called Akenside Traders.

From Grey's Monument

Go down Grey Street, crossing over at the traffic lights at the bottom and continuing down Dean Street. Dean Street joins the new pedestrianised section of Side as it curves down towards the Quayside. On your left you will see a pub called Akenside Traders. Side Café is on your right.

From The Guildhall

Stand with your back to the Guildhall on Newcastle's Quayside with the Tyne Bridge to your right. Cross the road and walk up Sandhill, which becomes Side as it bears round to the left. After 100 yards you'll see Akenside Traders pub on your right. Side Café is on your left.

Buses

Yellow Quaylink buses stop on Sandhill, opposite the Guildhall. Q1 runs between Gateshead Interchange and Newcastle Central Station via Baltic Square and The Sage Gateshead. Q2 runs between Newcastle Haymarket and Ouseburn Mariners Wharf via Newcastle Quayside. Both services run every 10 minutes.
