After more than 18 months of major Heritage Lottery funded redevelopment, Side Gallery reopens to the public on Saturday 1st October. Hurrah!
And yes, for those of you, like some of us, who find the stairs are getting a bit difficult, it’s accessible. There’s a ramp and a lift. And a disabled toilet… with a changing table, encouraging Early Years exposure to documentary! The gallery operates over three floors now and, replacing the old dodgy staircase, we’ve got two, brand new ones. We’ve got more exhibition space. We’ve got a new library. We’ve got a digital study area. And in a space where you can sit and read or talk or watch something from the collection as a group, you can look at the work that is coming out of Amber’s learning and participation projects.
