Curator of Gordon Parks: A Choice of Weapons, Mark Sealy of Autograph ABP talks about the great African American photographer’s work at the opening of the exhibition. He is the Director of the London-based photography gallery Autograph, in all his work he is interested in the relationship between photography and social change, identity politics, race and human rights. He curated a major Gordon Parks retrospective in 1993 at the Photographers’ Gallery and the British Film Institute, which Parks himself attended. In 2013 he curated the critically acclaimed Human Rights Human Wrongs for Ryerson Image Centre, Toronto and Photographers’ Gallery. He also curated Syd Shelton’s Rock Against racism exhibition which is on the ground floor of the gallery during the Gordon Parks exhibition.
