Newcastle upon Tyne 1972 – Demolition Shots

Unfinished Amber

In the early 1970s Amber filmed a number of the demolitions that reshaped the character of Newcastle – Scotswood, Ouseburn, the Quayside, the city centre. There is no sound. The footage was never incorporated in any of Amber’s films, although the work is linked to the research that led to Six to Midnight, Amber’s 1974 portrait of a day in the life of the city.
