Lockdown Living
In March 2021 AmberSide put out an open call for our audience to capture life in the North East of England during lockdown. We are asking for anyone who has documented their life and/or community to submit an image that they feel captures lockdown life in the region.
The theme is ‘Lockdown Living’. Pictures may be from inside your house or outside on your walks. They may capture the difficulties faced or the joy that could still be found.
The Sunderland Oak Project
Year 4 pupils from Hylton Castle Primary School worked on a video and photography project, setting out on a journey to discover and document Sunderland’s shipbuilding heritage in an inspiring film & photography project.
Carville Primary: Wallsend 77
The whole school becomes involved in creating and documenting their own juvenile jazz band, inspired by a film Amber made in 1972.
Education
Delivering distinctive projects with schools, colleges and the community - we use the AmberSide Collection and other resources as inspiration to develop creative, participative projects teaching documentary skills in photography and filmmaking to engage with local history and cultural heritage.
